Chinese herbal medicine is one of the world's oldest and most sophisticated pharmacological traditions. Dr Shen prescribes classical formulas — time-tested combinations of botanical, mineral and animal-derived substances that work synergistically to address your specific TCM pattern.
Unlike single-compound pharmaceutical drugs, classical herbal formulas are multi-ingredient, multi-target prescriptions designed to address the root imbalance while managing its manifestations. Formulas are adjusted at every consultation as your pattern changes and your health improves.
All herbs sourced by Rainbow Medicine are quality-certified, TGA-compliant and free from heavy metals and contaminants. We supply formulas as concentrated granules, capsules or traditional raw herb decoctions depending on your preference and condition.

Chinese medicine has always recognised the inseparability of emotional and physical health. In the classical texts, every emotion has a corresponding organ system: grief affects the Lungs, worry depletes the Spleen, fear taxes the Kidneys, anger disrupts the Liver. Persistent emotional states create physical blockages — and physical imbalances generate emotional symptoms.

Service 04
The Diagnostic Consultation is Dr Shen's signature service — a 90-minute deep-dive assessment that gives you the most complete picture of your health you've ever had. This is the foundation appointment for any new patient with complex or chronic health concerns.
Using the classical Four Pillars of TCM diagnosis — observation (望 wàng), listening and smelling (聞 wén), inquiry (問 wèn) and palpation (切 qiē) — Dr Shen builds a comprehensive TCM pattern diagnosis alongside modern clinical assessment, identifying not just what is wrong but why, and mapping a clear treatment pathway.
Service 05
Quality Chinese medicine care is not limited to those who can visit a clinic. Rainbow Medicine's telehealth service delivers the same thoroughness and expertise as an in-person consultation — via secure video — for patients who are interstate, overseas, housebound or simply prefer the convenience of consulting from home.
Via telehealth, Dr Shen can conduct full health history consultations, tongue diagnosis, dietary and lifestyle counselling, and herbal prescription with delivery. Acupuncture treatments are, of course, performed in-clinic — but the majority of Chinese medicine's therapeutic toolkit translates seamlessly online.
