Rainbow Medicine has added a telehealth video option for follow-up consultations, allowing returning patients to attend sessions remotely when distance, illness or family commitments prevent an in-clinic visit. The initial roll-out covers most consultation services; treatment-only sessions remain in-clinic.

The video platform used by Rainbow Medicine is hosted on Australian servers, encrypted end-to-end and complies with the Privacy Act 1988. Patients receive a one-click link by email 30 minutes before their appointment and do not need to create an account or download software.

"Telehealth has matured a lot since 2020," said Dr Christine Shen. "For the right kind of session — case reviews, results discussions, medication or herbal-formula adjustments — it works extremely well and frees patients from a 40-minute round trip for a 30-minute conversation."

Telehealth fees match in-clinic rates and HICAPS rebates are processed at the time of the appointment. Patients who prefer in-clinic sessions are not required to use telehealth — the option is offered alongside, not in place of, existing services.

Booking is straightforward: when reserving an appointment online, patients select 'telehealth' from the location dropdown. Reception is available on 0410 699 065 to help anyone unfamiliar with video consultations connect for the first time.
